Up to $800 VSL#3 Probiotic Settlement: How to Claim
By eosguide editorial · Last updated
VSL#3 probiotic settlement: claim $20 with no receipt, or up to $800 with proof. File by October 20, 2026. Tracking down a 2017 receipt for gut supplements is a long shot, which is exactly why the no-proof tier exists.
What happened
Class period: June 1, 2016 through June 19, 2019
- VSL#3 is a probiotic supplement sold in the United States
- Plaintiffs say the companies told buyers the formula they were selling had been proven effective in clinical tests for certain medical conditions, and that the claim was false
- Plaintiffs also say buyers overpaid for the product because of that marketing
- The defendants are VSL Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Leadiant Biosciences, Inc., and Alfasigma USA, Inc., the companies that licensed, marketed, and sold VSL#3
- The defendants deny doing anything wrong, and the court has not ruled on who is right
- The case is Starr v. VSL Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Case No. 8:19-cv-02173-LKG, in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland
- The parties agreed to a $20,000,000 settlement fund to end the case

Proof required
- No proof is needed to claim one unit per household, which pays about $20
- Proof is needed to claim more than one unit
- Notice credentials from your postcard or email count as proof for the units in the records
- Receipts or other purchase records let you claim the greater of 3 units or the number of units you can document
- If your receipts show more units than your Notice credentials do, submit the receipts to claim the larger amount
Payment timing
The parties asked the court to pay class members within 60 days after the settlement takes effect. That clock does not start until after the January 6, 2027 hearing and any appeals. Payment methods are not listed on the settlement website -- check https://vsl3lawsuit.com/faqs for updates.
