What happened

Class period: January 1, 2023 through July 26, 2025

  • Tyler Lynch sued Zale Delaware, Inc. and Sterling Jewelers Inc. in King County Superior Court in Washington, Case No. 24-2-24820-0 SEA, before Judge John McHale
  • The lawsuit claims the companies broke Washington's pay transparency law, RCW 49.58.110, by running Washington job postings that did not disclose the wage scale, salary range, or benefits information
  • It also claims some postings listed pay ranges that started below Washington's applicable annual minimum wage
  • The companies deny they did anything wrong and deny they can be held liable for the claims
  • Both sides agreed to settle to avoid the cost, risk, and delay of continuing the case
  • The settlement covers people who applied for a Washington job opening with either company between January 1, 2023 and July 26, 2025

FAQ

Who qualifies for this settlement?
You qualify if you applied for a job opening in Washington with Zale Delaware, Inc. or Sterling Jewelers Inc. between January 1, 2023 and July 26, 2025, and the posting either left out pay and benefits information or listed a range that started below Washington's minimum wage.
How much money will I get?
Everyone with a timely, valid claim gets an equal share of the settlement fund. Your estimated amount is printed on the Claim Form that came with your Notice. The final number depends on how many people file.
Do I need proof to file?
No. No receipts or documents are required. You complete the Claim Form, and the Settlement Administrator verifies it. They may ask for more information, so answer if they do.
What is the deadline?
September 28, 2026. That is also the last day to opt out or object, so there is only one date to remember.
What if I cannot find my Notice?
The online form needs the LoginID and PIN from the Notice. If you do not have it, call (833) 421-7315 or email info@ZDIClassActionSettlement.com, then file by email or mail instead.
Will filing hurt my chances of being hired there?
No. The companies agreed not to retaliate, and your choice will not affect any job application or how you are treated as a current or former employee.
What happens if I do nothing?
You get no payment and you still give up the right to sue over these claims. That is the worst square on the board.
When will payments be sent?
After the October 23, 2026 final approval hearing and after any appeals wrap up. Checks expire 180 days after they are issued, so do not let one sit in a drawer.
Is the payment taxed?
Payments are treated as non-wage damages and reported on a Form 1099.
