$75 No-Proof or Up to $5,000: Tift Regional Data Breach Settlement

What happened

Class period: The breach happened in August 2022. Documented losses count if they occurred between August 11, 2022 and October 15, 2026.

• In August 2022, attackers targeted the computer systems at Tift Regional Health System, Inc. and Southwell, Inc. in Tifton, Georgia
• Files that held private information were accessed during the attack
• Those files may have included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and medical information
• Patients sued in the Superior Court for Tift County, Georgia, in a case called In re Tift Regional Health System, Inc. Data Breach Litigation, Case No. 2023CV0313
• Tift denies wrongdoing, and the court has not ruled on who is right. Both sides agreed to a $1,200,000 settlement fund to end the case
• The class covers everyone in the United States whose private information may have been affected, including everyone who got a breach notice

How to file

1. Go to https://tiftdatasettlement.com/ and select Submit a Claim
2. Choose one cash option: the Alternative Cash Payment with no proof, or the Documented Loss Payment with receipts
3. Decide whether to enroll in the two years of CyEx Medical Shield Complete monitoring
4. Upload proof if you are claiming documented losses, then submit online by October 15, 2026
5. To file on paper, download the Claim Form and mail it to Tift Data Security Incident Settlement, c/o Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 25226, Santa Ana, CA 92799-9958, postmarked by October 15, 2026

Proof required

• No proof is needed for the Alternative Cash Payment of about $75
• Proof is required for the Documented Loss Payment of up to $5,000
• Accepted proof includes bank statements, receipts, and similar records showing what you spent or lost
• Your own written notes may support other proof, but notes alone will not make a valid claim
• Losses already paid back by a third party cannot be claimed

• Nothing is automatic here. If you do nothing, you get no money and still give up your right to sue
• The final approval hearing is September 14, 2026, a month before claims close, so the hearing passing does not mean you missed your window
• The opt-out and objection deadline is September 15, 2026, which is much sooner than the claim deadline
• The $75 figure is an estimate. It is a pro rata split of what is left in the $1,200,000 fund, so it moves with the number of claims filed
• You cannot take both cash options. Pick the one that matches what you can prove
• Class counsel will ask the court for $360,000 in fees plus costs, and $2,500 service awards for each of the four class representatives, all paid from the fund
• Use the official site only. No legitimate administrator will charge you a fee to file
