FAQ

Who qualifies for the State Farm Washington diminished value settlement?
State Farm insureds whose vehicle repairs were covered under UMPD on a Washington policy, for an accident between January 13, 2019 and February 27, 2026. The repair estimate must be at least $1,000, the vehicle must have been no more than six years old with under 90,000 miles, and it must have had frame damage, deformed sheet metal, or body or paint work.
What is diminished value?
It is the loss in value a car suffers after structural or body damage, even after repairs. To a buyer, fixed is not the same as never broken.
How much will I get?
It depends on your repair cost compared to the total repair costs of all qualifying claimants. The average payment will likely be about $625. Any diminished value payment you already got from State Farm will be subtracted. A bigger repair bill means a bigger share, which is the first upside that bill has ever had.
What is the deadline to file?
Submit your Claim Form online or mail it postmarked by December 14, 2026.
Do I need proof?
The official site does not list any supporting documents. Fill out and sign the green Claim Form that came with your Individual Notice.
What if I had more than one qualifying accident?
You should get a Claim Form for each accident. Submit a separate Claim Form for each one you want to claim.
Does a leased or totaled car qualify?
No. Claims involving leased vehicles or vehicles declared a total loss are excluded.
When will I get paid?
The Court will hold the Final Settlement Hearing on October 30, 2026. Payments will be sent after the Court approves the settlement and all appeals are concluded.
Did State Farm admit wrongdoing?
No. State Farm denies the allegations and says it paid the full and appropriate amounts for diminished value, where applicable.
