Interest Plus 5%: Progressive Texas PIP Settlement
By eosguide editorial · Last updated
Claim 11.452% interest, plus 5% on some bills, if Progressive paid your Texas PIP medical bills late. File by Jan 19, 2027. The irony: a lawsuit about slow payments still has to wait for court approval.
What happened
Class period: August 30, 2016 through June 1, 2026 (EOB print dates)
- A class action claims Progressive County Mutual Insurance Company paid medical bills submitted for personal injury protection (PIP) benefits under Texas auto policies after the deadlines in the Texas Prompt Payment of Claims Act and the Texas Insurance Code
- It also claims Progressive did not pay the required statutory remedies on every late payment
- Progressive denies wrongdoing and says it followed Texas law and its insurance policies
- The Court has not ruled on the merits. Both sides settled to avoid the cost, delay, and risk of more litigation
- The settlement affects people who submitted covered PIP medical bills under a Texas-based policy and were paid late, with an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) print date between August 30, 2016 and June 1, 2026
What you can get
