$150 HireVue Illinois BIPA Settlement: How to Claim

What happened

Class period: January 27, 2017 through June 25, 2026

• HireVue sells a video interview platform that employers use to screen job candidates
• The lawsuit alleges certain HireVue interview models analyzed candidates' facial and vocal characteristics, which counts as collecting biometric identifiers
• The Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) requires private companies to give written disclosures and get written consent before collecting biometrics
• The lawsuit alleges HireVue collected voice and face scans from Illinois candidates without those disclosures or that consent
• HireVue denies it collected or possessed biometrics and denies it broke the law. It states the models at issue were phased out starting in 2020, retired entirely by February 2023, and are not in any current HireVue product
• To end the case without a trial, HireVue agreed to fund a $3,750,000 settlement. The court granted preliminary approval on June 25, 2026

• Your interview used one of the models that may have collected voice and facial biometrics
• You received an email notice with a Login ID and PIN, or you can supply your own interview documentation
• You did not exclude yourself from the Settlement Class

How to file

1. Go to https://videointerviewbipasettlement.com/form/claim
2. Enter the Login ID and PIN from your email notice, or file without one and attach documentation of your HireVue interview
3. Choose payment by check or electronic transfer
4. Submit online by October 13, 2026
5. Or download a paper Claim Form and mail it to HireVue BIPA Settlement, c/o Simpluris, P.O. Box 25226, Santa Ana, CA 92799, postmarked by October 13, 2026

Proof required

• No documents are needed if you received an email notice with a Login ID and PIN
• Without a notice, submit documentation of your HireVue interview, such as an interview invitation or confirmation
• The Settlement Administrator reviews your claim against HireVue's records to confirm eligibility

Payment timing

Payments go out roughly 60 days after the settlement becomes final, by check or electronic transfer. An appeal can delay that. Checks expire and become void 75 days after they are issued.

• Do not contact the employer you interviewed with. Employers do not administer this settlement and cannot check your eligibility
• Completing a HireVue interview by itself does not make you a class member. Only certain interview models are covered
• The class period ends June 25, 2026 because that is the date the court granted preliminary approval, not because the technology was in use until then
• Filing a claim is the only way to get paid. Doing nothing means no money and you still release your claims
• Class Counsel will request up to one-third of the fund in attorneys' fees plus expenses, and up to $6,000 for each of the three Class Representatives. That request was set to be filed September 7, 2026 and posted on the Important Documents page
