By eosguide editorial · Last updated

What happened
Class period: April 1, 2015 through the present
- A class action says Google LLC and AdMob Google Inc. collected, used, and disclosed personal information from children under 13 through Google Play apps without parental consent, from April 1, 2015 to the present.
- The lawsuit says that data was used to target these under-13 users with behavioral advertising, in violation of their privacy rights under COPPA.
- Google denies the allegations and denies any wrongdoing. It agreed to an $8,250,000 settlement to avoid the cost and risk of a trial.
- The case is A.B., et al. v. Google LLC, et al., Case 5:23-cv-03101, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
Your home address, phone number, relatives, or other personal details may already appear on data broker and people-search sites.
This settlement may pay eligible claimants for what happened here — worth filing. But data brokers are a separate, ongoing problem — hundreds of companies collect and sell your personal information continuously, from public records, loyalty programs, and more. They don’t need a hack to get it. Incogni sends removal requests to 420+ data brokers on your behalf and continues checking for reappearing data.
