By eosguide editorial · Last updated
BMW shark-fin antenna settlement: 2019-2020 X3 through X7 owners can claim reimbursement for water-leak repairs and get an extended warranty. File by August 27, 2026. The one shark fin on record that couldn't keep the water out.
What happened
Class period: Model Year 2019-2020 BMW X3, X4, X5, X6, and X7 vehicles produced November 1, 2018 through March 31, 2020.
- The lawsuit claims the Shark-Fin Antenna on certain BMW vehicles was not fully sealed to the roof.
- Water could leak in and damage parts below the antenna, including the telematics unit and its battery. This is called the Sealing Defect.
- It affects people who own or lease, or used to own or lease, Model Year 2019-2020 BMW X3, X4, X5, X6, and X7 vehicles in the United States, including DC and Puerto Rico.
- BMW NA denies it did anything wrong. The court has not decided who is right.
