Mitsubishi Outlander Hood Flutter Settlement 2026 -- Free Repairs and Up to $4,595 Back
By eosguide editorial · Last updated
A class action settlement covers 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander hood flutter repairs and reimburses past out-of-pocket costs. File by July 30, 2026. Turns out a hood that bounces at highway speeds is not a feature -- and now there's a settlement that officially agrees.
What happened
Class period: Current and former U.S. owners and lessees of specific 2022 model year Mitsubishi Outlander vehicles identified by VIN (see VIN Lookup Portal at hoodsettlement.com for eligibility)
- A class action lawsuit (Damocles, et al. v. Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.) alleged that certain 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander vehicles have a defective hood design that causes the hood to flutter and bounce while driving at highway speeds
- Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) denied all claims, maintaining the hoods were properly designed, manufactured, marketed, and sold, and that no warranties were breached
- The parties resolved the case through a settlement without a court ruling or any admission of wrongdoing
- The settlement does not cover every 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander -- only specific vehicles identified by Vehicle Identification Number (VIN); owners should check eligibility using the VIN Lookup Portal at hoodsettlement.com
- Current owners with an ongoing hood flutter concern can get a free repair or replacement at an authorized Mitsubishi dealer; former owners who paid for repairs out of pocket may file for reimbursement
