Up to $15 Penn Medicine Pixel Settlement: How to Claim

What happened

Class period: January 23, 2021 through January 23, 2023

• The lawsuit is Mohr, et al. v. The Trustees of The University of Pennsylvania as Owner and Operator of The University of Pennsylvania Health System (d/b/a Penn Medicine), Case No. 230102149, in the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County
• Plaintiffs claim Penn Medicine placed Meta (Facebook) and Google tracking pixels and similar analytics and advertising tools on its website and patient portal
• The lawsuit says these tools sent patients' personally identifiable information to third parties without consent, in violation of the Pennsylvania Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Control Act (WESCA)
• Penn Medicine denies all claims and any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the cost and risk of a trial
• Penn Medicine agreed to pay up to $9,250,000 in total, which covers claim payments, notice and administration costs, attorneys' fees, and incentive awards
• The settlement affects people who accessed the myPennMedicine patient portal between January 23, 2021, and January 23, 2023, and had a Pennsylvania address on file at the time
• Penn Medicine is not currently using the Meta pixel on pennmedicine.org, and for the next two years it will not use analytics or advertising technologies on the site unless its Web Governance Committee finds the use is consistent with applicable law

Who may qualify

• You accessed the myPennMedicine patient portal at any time between January 23, 2021, and January 23, 2023
• You had a Pennsylvania address on file with Penn Medicine at the time you accessed the portal
• You received a notice with a Unique ID and PIN by email or mail, or you can call the administrator to verify your identity

How to file

1. Find the Unique ID and PIN on the notice you received by email or mail
2. Go to https://www.uphspixelsettlement.com/Login and enter your Unique ID and PIN
3. Complete the online Claim Form and choose how you want to be paid
4. Save the confirmation email and code you receive after submitting
5. To file by mail, download the paper Claim Form from the Documents page, fill it out, sign and date it, and mail it to UPHS Pixel Settlement, P.O. Box 4536, Portland, OR 97208-4536
6. Online claims are due by 11:59 p.m. ET on September 16, 2026, and mailed claims must be postmarked by September 16, 2026
7. If you did not receive a notice but believe you qualify, call 1-877-327-7567 to verify your identity and learn how to file

Proof required

• You must enter the Unique ID and PIN printed on the notice you received by email or mail
• No receipts, screenshots, or other documents are required

Payment timing

Payments go out about 90 days after the settlement is finally approved and any appeals are resolved. The final approval hearing is November 12, 2026. You will be paid by check unless you choose PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, ACH, or eMasterCard. Checks expire 180 days after they are issued.
