What happened

Class period: There is no purchase-based class period. Eligibility is based on having your PII compromised in the November 2023 Data Incident, for which Oak View provided notice on or about January 2024. Documented out-of-pocket losses must have occurred between November 26, 2023 and August 15, 2026.

  • In November 2023, Oak View Group, LLC was hit by a targeted cyberattack on its computer systems. Certain files containing private information were accessed.
  • The exposed data may have included full names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, demographic information, and driver's license or state or federal identification numbers.
  • A class action, Andersen et al. v. Oak View Group, LLC, followed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Oak View denies it did anything wrong, and no court has decided who is right. Both sides agreed to settle to avoid the cost and uncertainty of a trial.

FAQ

Who qualifies for the Oak View Group settlement?
You qualify if your personal information was compromised in Oak View Group's November 2023 data breach and you were among the people notified around January 2024. If you got a notice with a Unique ID and PIN, that is your key in.
How much money can I get?
Up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses tied to the breach, plus a no-proof pro rata cash payment of $150 for California residents or $50 for everyone else. You can also enroll in two years of free credit monitoring.
Why do California residents get more?
California has its own data privacy statutes that give residents extra leverage, so the settlement allots them a larger pro rata payment. The rest of the country gets $50 and the quiet satisfaction of filing anyway.
What is the deadline to file?
August 15, 2026. That is the last day to file online and the postmark deadline for mailed forms.
Do I need to provide proof?
Only for the out-of-pocket loss reimbursement, where you will need receipts or bank statements. The pro rata cash payment and credit monitoring require nothing but a valid claim.
When will I get paid?
After the Court grants final approval at the August 13, 2026 hearing and any appeals wrap up. Class action timelines are not known for their urgency, so plan to wait.
