- A class action lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Court for Broward County, Florida; Alera denies wrongdoing and the Court has not ruled on the merits
- The parties agreed to settle to avoid the costs and risks of continued litigation

How to file
- Go to the official settlement website at aleragroupdatasettlement.com
- Click "Submit a Claim" and log in using the Unique ID and PIN from the notice mailed to you
- Complete and submit the online claim form by June 29, 2026
- If you prefer to file by mail, download the paper Claim Form from the official site and mail it to the Settlement Administrator with a postmark no later than June 29, 2026

Proof required
- For the flat \~$50 alternate cash payment: no documentation required
- For the up-to-$3,500 documented losses payment: third-party documentation is required, such as receipts, invoices, or statements showing losses from identity theft or fraud, fees for credit monitoring or credit freezes, costs to replace IDs, or postage for contacting financial institutions
- Personal certifications, declarations, or affidavits alone are not sufficient for Cash Payment A, but may be included to support other third-party documentation
- Losses must not have already been reimbursed by a third party
