What happened

Class period: The data incident occurred on or between January 22, 2023 and January 24, 2023

• ZOLL Medical Corporation makes heart monitors, defibrillators, and other cardiac devices, and holds personal information tied to those patients
• Between January 22 and January 24, 2023, someone gained unauthorized access to ZOLL's internal computer network
• Personal information may have been exposed. For some people, that included Social Security numbers
• ZOLL mailed notices to the people whose information was involved
• A class action lawsuit followed, Smith et al. v. ZOLL Medical Corporation, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, Case No. 1:23-cv-10575
• ZOLL denies it did anything wrong. It agreed to a $3,500,000 settlement fund to end the case
• The court gave preliminary approval and appointed EisnerAmper as the settlement administrator

• You received a postcard or notice with a Settlement Claim ID
• You are not a ZOLL officer or director, the judge assigned to the case, or someone who opts out

How to file

1. Find the Settlement Claim ID on the postcard or notice ZOLL mailed you
2. Go to the official claim site at https://heartdevicedatasettlement.pnclassaction.com/
3. Enter your Claim ID to start. If you cannot find it, use the "Help Me Locate My Settlement Claim ID" link on that page
4. Fill in your contact information
5. Pick your benefits: the pro rata cash payment, out-of-pocket loss reimbursement, or both
6. Upload documents if you are claiming out-of-pocket losses
7. Sign the certification and choose how you want to be paid
8. Submit online by September 2, 2026 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET
9. To file by mail instead, download the claim form from the settlement website and mail it postmarked by September 2, 2026 to: ZOLL Data Settlement, P.O. Box 4089, Baton Rouge, LA 70821

Proof required

• No documents are needed for the pro rata cash payment. Your Claim ID is enough
• Documents are required for out-of-pocket loss claims of up to $5,000
• Acceptable proof includes receipts, bills, bank or credit card statements, and records of credit freeze or credit monitoring costs
• Handwritten or self-prepared receipts alone are not enough. They can support other documents but cannot stand on their own
• You must also sign an attestation stating the losses are fairly traceable to the data incident and were not caused by something else
• If your claim is incomplete or short on documents, the administrator gives you 14 days to fix it before denying the claim

Payment timing

Payments go out after the court grants final approval and any appeals are resolved, or after the appeal window closes. The final approval hearing is set for September 10, 2026. Payment options are selected during the claim process. Check https://www.heartdevicedatasettlement.com/ for updates.

• The $50 and $100 cash amounts are estimates, not guarantees. The pool is split among everyone who files, so the final amount can go up or down
• People whose Social Security numbers were involved get two shares instead of one, which is why their estimate is double
