What happened
Class period: The Data Incident occurred in September 2021.
In September 2021, Pawn America -- operating as Pawn America Minnesota, LLC, Payday America, Inc., and PAL Card Minnesota, LLC -- experienced a data breach that potentially compromised the private information of customers across the United States. A class action lawsuit followed in U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota (Case No. 21-cv-02554), alleging the companies failed to adequately protect customer data. Pawn America denies all wrongdoing, but both sides agreed to settle rather than proceed to trial.
