Tom's of Maine Toothpaste Settlement 2026 -- Get a Refund by July 6 (No Receipt Required)

What happened

Class period: November 21, 2020 through March 6, 2026

Tom's of Maine -- the natural toothpaste brand owned by Colgate-Palmolive -- found itself in a sticky situation after an FDA inspection of its Sanford, Maine manufacturing facility in May 2024. The FDA raised concerns that certain conditions at the facility were not in compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Processes. The defendants reviewed pre-release testing data for approximately 4,900 finished toothpaste batches manufactured over a three-year period and found no batch showed a safety risk to consumers -- but that didn't stop the lawsuits.

Multiple class action cases were filed across the country, alleging deceptive and misleading business practices related to the manufacturing, marketing, and sale of Tom's toothpaste products. The cases were consolidated into Rabinowitz et al. v. Colgate-Palmolive Company et al., filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Colgate and Tom's deny all wrongdoing but agreed to a $2,900,000 settlement to resolve the litigation.

If you purchased any Tom's of Maine toothpaste product in the United States between November 21, 2020, and March 6, 2026, you may be entitled to a cash refund -- even without a receipt.

How to file

1. Visit toothpastesettlement.com and click "Start Your Claim" or go directly to toothpastesettlement.com/Login
2. Complete the online Claim Form and submit it by July 6, 2026
3. Alternatively, download a paper Claim Form, complete and sign it, and mail it to the Class Administrator postmarked no later than July 6, 2026
4. If you have proof of purchase (receipt, invoice, or loyalty record), include it with your claim to qualify for a refund on up to 3 products

Proof required

• No proof of purchase required: You can still file and receive the average MSRP for up to 1 product per household
• With proof of purchase: Acceptable documentation includes a receipt, invoice, or loyalty program record for each product claimed, up to a maximum of 3 products

Payment timing
