Sprouts Farmers Market FACTA Receipt Settlement – File a Claim by August 5, 2026

Sprouts Farmers Market agreed to a $5 million settlement over allegations it printed too many digits of customers' credit, debit, or EBT card numbers on receipts — a violation of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA). If you used a personal card at any Sprouts store in the U.S. during the class period, you may be eligible for a cash payment. You must file a claim by August 5, 2026.

What happened

Class period: August 16, 2020 through October 31, 2022 (credit/debit cards); March 15, 2021 through April 15, 2023 (EBT cards)

  • Sprouts allegedly printed more than the last five digits of customers' credit, debit, and EBT card numbers on electronically printed receipts — a violation of FACTA, which limits what card information can appear on receipts
  • Two class action lawsuits were filed: Larry Tran v. Sprouts Farmers Market (Case No. 22STCV26572) and Robert Cohen v. Sprouts Farmers Market (Case No. 23STCV08339), both in Los Angeles County Superior Court
  • Sprouts successfully had both complaints dismissed; plaintiffs appealed; the Court of Appeal remanded the cases back for settlement proceedings
  • Both sides agreed to settle to avoid the cost and uncertainty of continued litigation, including the appeals
  • Sprouts denies all wrongdoing and does not admit any FACTA violation
  • As part of the settlement, Sprouts will also implement a written policy prohibiting it from printing more than the last five digits of any card number on future receipts

FAQ

Do I need to file a claim?
Yes — unlike some settlements, this one requires you to actively file a claim form to receive payment. Do nothing and you get nothing (except the right to be bound by the settlement terms).
How do I know which claim form to use?
Check your email inbox and spam folder for a notice with a Notice Number starting with the letter P. If you have one, use the Short-Form Claim Form. If you don't, use Claim Form-R, which requires proof of a qualifying Sprouts transaction.
Who qualifies?
Anyone who used a personal credit, debit, or EBT card at a Sprouts store in the U.S. during the class period and received a receipt showing more than five digits of their card number. The class periods are August 16, 2020–October 31, 2022 for credit/debit cards, and March 15, 2021–April 15, 2023 for EBT cards.
How much will I get?
It depends on how many people file valid claims. The net fund (after fees and costs are deducted from $5 million) is divided equally among all eligible claimants. The more people who file, the smaller each share.
What if I shopped at Sprouts multiple times?
You can only file one claim regardless of how many qualifying transactions you had. One claim, one payment.
What is the deadline?
August 5, 2026 to file your claim. But the opt-out and objection deadline is April 7, 2026 — much sooner — so if you want to exclude yourself from the settlement, act fast.
What happens if I do nothing?
You stay in the class, receive no payment, and give up your right to sue Sprouts over these FACTA claims.
When will I get paid?
After the final approval hearing on November 19, 2026 and once any appeals are resolved. Settlement checks expire 180 days after they're issued.
