Sprouts Farmers Market FACTA Receipt Settlement – File a Claim by August 5, 2026
Sprouts Farmers Market agreed to a $5 million settlement over allegations it printed too many digits of customers' credit, debit, or EBT card numbers on receipts — a violation of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA). If you used a personal card at any Sprouts store in the U.S. during the class period, you may be eligible for a cash payment. You must file a claim by August 5, 2026.
What happened
Class period: August 16, 2020 through October 31, 2022 (credit/debit cards); March 15, 2021 through April 15, 2023 (EBT cards)
- Sprouts allegedly printed more than the last five digits of customers' credit, debit, and EBT card numbers on electronically printed receipts — a violation of FACTA, which limits what card information can appear on receipts
- Two class action lawsuits were filed: Larry Tran v. Sprouts Farmers Market (Case No. 22STCV26572) and Robert Cohen v. Sprouts Farmers Market (Case No. 23STCV08339), both in Los Angeles County Superior Court
- Sprouts successfully had both complaints dismissed; plaintiffs appealed; the Court of Appeal remanded the cases back for settlement proceedings
- Both sides agreed to settle to avoid the cost and uncertainty of continued litigation, including the appeals
- Sprouts denies all wrongdoing and does not admit any FACTA violation
- As part of the settlement, Sprouts will also implement a written policy prohibiting it from printing more than the last five digits of any card number on future receipts
