What Happened?
In or around March 2023, an unauthorized third party accessed files belonging to Panda Restaurant Group — the parent company of Panda Express, Panda Inn, and Hibachi-San. Those files contained sensitive personal information, including full names, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers.
Affected individuals were notified via letter dated March 7, 2024. A class action lawsuit followed, alleging negligence, breach of implied contract, unjust enrichment, and other claims. Panda Restaurant Group denies wrongdoing but agreed to a $2,450,000 non-reversionary settlement to resolve the case.
Case name: Halliday, et al. v. Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. — No. 24STCV12667 — Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles. Judge Theresa M. Traber presiding.
