Nissan North America Data Breach Settlement 2026 – File by May 26, 2026

Nissan North America suffered a cyberattack in November 2023 that exposed employee Social Security numbers, medical records, pay info, and more — because apparently their data security didn't come with the same warranty as their cars. If you received a breach notice, you may be eligible for up to $4,950 in cash plus two years of free credit monitoring.

What happened

Class period: On or about November 7, 2023 (the date of the Data Incident)

In November 2023, cybercriminals gained unauthorized access to Nissan North America's computer network and helped themselves to a buffet of employee private information — names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, pay records, and medical data. Nissan denies wrongdoing, but a $1.5 million settlement fund has been established to compensate affected employees. If your information was caught up in this breach, the settlement is your chance to get something back (other than anxiety about your SSN floating around the internet).

What you can get

Alternative Cash Payment (no docs needed)

Up to $100

Pro rata — actual amount depends on total valid claims filed Ordinary Documented Losses

Extra details

If you already enrolled in Nissan's free credit monitoring offer after the breach, good news — you can extend it for two additional years under this settlement rather than starting fresh. If you did NOT enroll in the original monitoring offer, you can still sign up for two years of coverage through the settlement. Watch out for scams — the only authorized settlement website is nnadatasettlement.com. If someone emails you a "claim link," that's not Nissan trying to make it right; that's someone trying to make it worse. Opting out preserves your right to sue independently, but you'll walk away with zero settlement benefits.

FAQ

Who qualifies for this settlement?
Anyone who received an official notice from Nissan North America stating their personal information may have been compromised in the November 2023 data breach. If you got that notice and felt a little queasy — yes, this settlement is for you.
Do I need documentation to file a claim?
Not necessarily. Cash Payment B (up to $100) requires no documentation at all — just submit your claim. If you have documented out-of-pocket losses caused by the breach, you can claim up to $4,950 with the right paperwork.
What happens if I do nothing?
You'll receive no benefits and give up your right to sue Nissan over this incident. So "doing nothing" is really doing something — just not for yourself.
When will I receive payment?
After the Court grants Final Approval at the June 1, 2026 hearing and any appeals are resolved. Settlements don't move as fast as a Nissan GTR, unfortunately.
What if I already enrolled in Nissan's free credit monitoring?
Great news — you can extend that monitoring for two additional years through this settlement at no extra cost to you.
