Dodge Ram 1500 EcoDiesel EGR Cooler Settlement – File by May 16, 2026
FCA US is settling a class action lawsuit alleging that 2014–2019 Dodge Ram 1500 EcoDiesel trucks contained defective EGR coolers that could crack, leak coolant, and cause engine fires. If you bought or leased one of these trucks in the U.S., you may be entitled to reimbursement, a $3,000 fire payment, or at minimum a free warranty extension — no claim form required for the warranty. File by May 16, 2026.
What happened
Class period: June 12, 2013 through October 23, 2019 (manufacturing dates of eligible trucks)
The 2014–2019 Dodge Ram 1500 EcoDiesel was marketed as a capable, efficient workhorse — which makes it somewhat ironic that its EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) cooler allegedly had a habit of cracking under thermal stress, leaking coolant into the intake manifold, and in some cases causing the engine to catch fire. A class action lawsuit alleged FCA US knew about the defect and failed to adequately address it. FCA US denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle. Anyone who purchased or leased an eligible truck in the U.S. is included in the class, whether or not their cooler ever failed.

Extra details
The warranty extension follows the truck, not the owner — if you sold your eligible truck, the new owner benefits from it You do not need to present any settlement-related documents at the dealership to receive warranty service; just bring the truck The reimbursement pool is shared — $750,000 split among all valid claimants, so earlier is better than later Claims without third-party documentation will be rejected; a personal statement or affidavit alone is not sufficient
