Differin BPO Acne Product Settlement 2026 -- Get $9 Per Product, File by May 19
Galderma misled buyers about possible benzene contamination in Differin BPO acne products. File by May 19, 2026 to claim $9 per product.
What happened
Class period: January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2023
Galderma Laboratories makes Differin, a widely used over-the-counter acne treatment line.
A class action lawsuit (Williams v. Galderma Laboratories, L.P., Case No. 1:24-cv-02222) alleged that Galderma misled consumers about possible benzene contamination in three of its BPO (benzoyl peroxide) products: Differin Daily Deep Cleanser (5% BPO), Differin Acne Spot Treatment (10% BPO), and Differin Maximum Strength Acne Foaming Cleanser (10% BPO).
Benzene is a known carcinogen -- not exactly what you were signing up for when you picked up an acne wash.
Galderma denies the allegations and any wrongdoing. No court has ruled against the company. The parties agreed to a $990,000 settlement to avoid the cost and uncertainty of continued litigation.
Anyone who bought one of the three covered Differin BPO products in the United States for personal use between January 1, 2020, and February 19, 2026, may be eligible to file a claim.
